RICARDO RUIZ was born. Singer. The tango that we are listening to, is a homage to the “farolito” (the little lamppost) that was used to light the streets of Buenos Aires before the electricity arrived. Inside the lamppost there was a candle made of tallow. The “Farol” started to disappear in March 1931 when the entire city of Buenos Aires was lit up with electric lamps, placed one on each corner and a third one in the middle of the block.
